By public transport
If you travel by public transport go to www.9292.nl for current travel information. It is a ten-minute walk to get from Central Station to the museum:
- Leave the station in the direction of the centre of town
- Continue straight ahead until you reach Beestenmarkt
- Turn left here (past McDonald's)
- Turn right and cross Turfmarktbrug, then turn left immediately
- Continue straight ahead when you reach Oude Singel, the water is on your left
- Turn right into Lange Lijsbethsteeg
- Follow the bend in the road to the left, you will find our museum straight ahead.
By bicycle
If you go to the museum on bicycle, you can park your bike on Vrouwenkerkplein, directly opposite the museum.
By car
There is a paid car park at Lammermarkt, which is a 3-minute walk from our museum. Walking directions:
- Walk down De Nieuwe Beestenmarkt street and across the bridge.
- Turn left on Oude Singel, the water is on your left
- Turn right into Lange Lijsbethsteeg.
- Follow the bend in the road to the left, you will find our museum straight ahead.
Do you have mobility issues?
You might consider parking at the paid car park on Haagweg. There are free shuttle services from this car park that take you to the entrance of the museum and will also collect you there. National Museum Boerhaave is accessible to wheelchair users. There are also a few wheelchairs available for mobility scooter users. Assistance dogs are allowed in the museum, but no other animals.
You can park in a public disabled parking space if you have a disability parking card. You may then also park in spaces where parking is otherwise prohibited. To find out which disabled parking spaces are available in Leiden visit: gehandicaptenparkeerplaatsen.nl.
Coach parking
There is a drop-off point on Beestenmarkt (near the canal tour boats) where it is possible to park for 15 minutes. Arriving from the A4 and A44: there are coach parking bays on Haagweg. Arriving from the A4 (Amsterdam-The Hague): Coach parking bays on Lammenschansweg near Lammenschans train station.
