Scientific Instrument Symposium
Rijksmuseum Boerhaave & Teylers Museum
In September 2018 Rijksmuseum Boerhaave organized the 37th international congress of the Scientific Instrument Commission. 150 scientific historians of science, museum curators, collectors and students from more than 20 countries around the world gathered for a week to discuss historical scientific instruments and their contributions to scientific developments.
The general topic of the conference was Instruments and the ‘Empire of Man over Things’.
Organisation
The Symposium will be hosted jointly by Rijksmuseum Boerhaave in Leiden and Teylers Museum in Haarlem with visits to nearby cities and collections.
