Short & snappy tour
‘But did you see anything of the museum?’ yes of course, because in 20 minutes we will introduce you to our collection and it’s stories! This time we’ll show you some of our weirdest objects; a dragon's tooth, deadly decorations of medical instruments, a specimen of a little baby's arm, and an old type of morse machine that keeps giving you little electrical shocks as you use it. Approx. every ten minutes a tour will start so you simply cannot miss this.

Clay your private parts
We all (hopefully) know where to find the clitorus by now. But did you know this little nugget is only a small part of the matching organ. Most of it you can’t see. A very normal part of female anatomy with a troubled past. For centuries the medical world didn’t find it interesting or relevant enough to study and teach. Tonight we change this. Clay and take home a beautiful sex organ, learn about it’s anatomy, and talk to each other about your clitwish.
Meet your vaginal microbiome
Any place you can think of (on earth) hosts micro organisms. Your vagina is no exception. It’s a special environment with a unique mix of microorganisms like bacteria, yeast and fungi. Luckily, there’s a lot of research being done on this now, because it’s an essential part of your health! Come by and listen to the scientists who are doing this research. If you want, you can take a swab of your own, this will be colored and shown under a microscope. What does your vaginal microbiome look like?

My great body
How well do you know your body and the things you’re good at? Test it during the Museumnight at Rijksmuseum Boerhaave! Show off your muscle mass with this special handstrength test. Do you have the speedy reflexes of a cat, can you catch all the sticks before they hit the ground? Do you have a special pattern in your fingerprints or are you really just a bit mundane?
Sound Bath @ the Museum
Are you so done with strength tests, vulva’s, true crime and menstrual pain? We’ll help you wind down. In one of our prettiest museum rooms we’ll surround you with calming and soothing sound scale sounds. Close your eyes or watch the images of our universe and micro-organisms float by. Zen with a smidge of science.

Neon paint party
Bioluminescence is the emission of light during a chemiluminescence reaction by living organisms. It sounds complicated and it is. You’ll know the firefly as an example. But also bacteria, fungi, and estimated about 90% of sea creatures are able to do this. We humans might not always be able to see it. Feeling inspired? Let your fantasy run wild. Dive into the dark, the fresh outside air, and neon. Painting bioluminescence with a drink.

Try the menstrual-challenge
Are you a person without a uterus, and have you ever thought to yourself ‘are they really not just exaggerating?’. You’ve probably never dared to ask this question, and rightfully so. So we challenge you to feel for yourself! You may have seen it on TV; we’ll place electrodes on your lower belly and a couple of experts will turn up the heat to make you experience how bad menstrual cramps can really be.
