What data do we collect and why?
Website visitors
When you visit our website, we collect your personal data. We do this in the following ways:
Tickets
If you reserve a ticket through our website, we collect personal data such as first name, last name, email address, and IP address. The data of tickets purchased via Ticket Team are stored online and are accessible only to a select few. These data may be used only once to send a notification in case of an emergency. At checkout, you can indicate if you wish to join the mailing list.
After a period of 2 years from the purchase date (for undated tickets) or 2 years after the ticket date, Ticket Team anonymizes and/or deletes the following data:
- First name, last name, email address, IP address = anonymized data.
- Phone number, company name, address, date of birth, and remaining user information in the payment log = deleted information.
- Barcode, order number, order price, ticket price, ticket type, ticket group, country code, browser information, newsletter yes/no, extraOptIn, external reference = retained information.
Newsletter
When you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address and, if provided, your first and last name and areas of interest. This data is kept in our mailing list until you unsubscribe. Each newsletter contains an unsubscribe link, allowing you to stop the mailing at any time. Email addresses are then deleted.
Museum visitors
When you visit our museum, we also collect your personal data. We do this in the following ways:
Camera footage
The museum is under video surveillance. We use this surveillance for your safety, the safety of our employees, the building, and our collection. Camera footage is stored for 72 hours unless an incident is recorded. In that case, footage may be stored longer and shared with the relevant authorities.
Wi-Fi network
You can connect your personal devices to our Wi-Fi network in the museum. The MAC address of your device is collected to establish an internet connection. We do not store this data.
Entrance
If you purchase an entry ticket at the counter, we do not record your data. If you use the museum card as your admission ticket, we also do not collect your data. The museum card data is not shared with the museum.
Educational program
For our educational program, we collect the name of the school, the name of the teacher, contact details, the group level, group size, the program attended, and the type of education (primary/secondary/vocational/higher education/university). This data is provided by the school itself and is not supplemented. It is kept for 5 years for analysis and to approach schools for pilot programs.
Friends of Rijksmuseum Boerhaave (Caecilia Foundation)
If you are registered with our friends' foundation, we collect your contact details, phone number, email, date of birth, and area of interest to send you targeted invitations to our lectures. If you are a friend, supporter, duo-friend, or regular donor, we also collect your bank details to issue an invoice or automatic debit once a year for your friendship contribution.
The data is stored and retained until a person passes away or indicates they wish to end their friendship. The Caecilia Foundation has its own privacy statement, which you can find here.
Relations of Rijksmuseum Boerhaave
For relations of Rijksmuseum Boerhaave, we collect company details, contact details, roles, and email addresses and phone numbers to invite you to openings and events as a museum relation. These data are retained until someone changes jobs or retires. The data is obtained through business cards and email signatures. The data is not supplemented.
Library visitors
When you visit our library, we record your contact information for book loans. These details are deleted immediately after the book is returned.
Photo requests
Photo requests come in via email. The contact details of the requester are saved in the application email, which is kept for reference. After five years, the emails are deleted.
Your rights
For questions about this privacy statement, inquiries about how we process your personal data, or to exercise your privacy rights, you can contact us. To prevent misuse, we will need to verify your identity. In accordance with the GDPR, you have the following privacy rights:
- Right to access, modify, or delete your personal data;
- Right to restrict the processing of your personal data;
- Right to object to the processing of your personal data;
- Right to withdraw your consent;
- Right to transfer your personal data to another organization;
- Right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority regarding our processing of your personal data.
