Wheelchairs, Walkers, and Mobility Scooters
Rijksmuseum Boerhaave is fully accessible for visitors using walkers and wheelchairs. Two wheelchairs are available for mobility scooter users. To reserve, please call +31 (0)71 - 751 99 99. All floors are accessible by elevator or lift. The elevator accommodates one mobility aid at a time (width: 90 cm, length: 150 cm), as do the lifts (width: 96 cm, length: 121 cm, max weight: 225 kg).

Wheelchair Accessible Toilet
The museum has one wheelchair-accessible toilet on the ground floor, opposite the Anatomical Theater. The floor slopes slightly toward the accessible toilet.

Courtyard Garden & Waterland Boerhaave
The museum's courtyard garden is accessible for visitors with disabilities. The path is paved with narrow, elongated stones. Waterland Boerhaave is elevated and not accessible with wheelchairs, walkers, or mobility scooters.

Special dementia-friendly tours are available for people with dementia, their loved ones, and caregivers. These tours are led by guides trained to create a dementia-friendly experience. Low-Stimulus Visits

Rijksmuseum Boerhaave is not designed as a low-stimulus environment. During a visit to our permanent exhibition, you may encounter:

• dimly lit rooms,
• video screens and projections,
• small and narrow spaces,
• audio and sound clips in exhibit rooms,
• audio triggers when entering rooms or interacting with displays,
• playing children in the courtyard,
• spaces in the museum with high sound levels.

School groups often visit on weekdays. After 4:00 p.m., most groups have departed. During school holidays and public holidays, the museum tends to be busy. For information on quieter times, please contact us at info@rijksmuseumboerhaave.nl

In most cases, the same accessibility facilities apply for school visits.

Classroom 1 is accessible from the ground floor, with a downward ramp for easy access. One accessible restroom is available on this floor.

Classrooms 3 and 4 are connected and accessible with a loaned wheelchair and stairlift for visitors with disabilities. Access with electric wheelchairs or mobility scooters is not possible. This floor has no accessible restroom.
