During the COVID-19 pandemic, extensive handwashing instructions were shared everywhere, and handshakes became a thing of the past. The star of this story: soap!

Throughout the day, we come into contact with all sorts of bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. Did you know that long ago, people didn’t know anything about this? Fortunately, today we know that washing our hands is essential not only for our health but also for the health of others.

And to make handwashing a bit more fun, you can make your own soap at Rijksmuseum Boerhaave. Which color, scent, and shape will turn handwashing into a party for you? Join us and find out!
