In the eighteenth century, scientists created beautiful collections. Enjoy special plants and animals from faraway countries and beautiful images from precious books. You are actually looking at the predecessors of Google and Wikipedia, this was how people gathered and spread knowledge.

Zuylenburgh Collection
The objects tell the story of the heyday of experimenting, collecting, organizing and describing. Science became available to everyone.
Rijksmuseum Boerhaave and Bert Degenaar jointly provided the interior of Great Collections. One of the rooms tells more about the namesake of the museum: Herman Boerhaave.
Another room is a collector's dream: a beautiful display with 55 objects from the famous Zuylenburgh Collection. This collection shows the special scientific developments in the seventeenth century and which instruments were used at the time.
